It seems as though two of Europe’s biggest clubs are set to do battle for the signature of want-away Everton striker Moise Kean this summer.

Kean has had a traumatic time at Everton ever since the then 19-year-old joined the Merseyside club from Juventus last summer.

The young Italian forward has never managed to settle into life in English football and has failed to find a place in the Toffees team under both Marco Silva and now Carlo Ancelotti.

There were rumours and stories circulating he was unhappy it looked as though he might leave in January last year and Juventus were the club who wanted him back in Turin.

It didn’t happen then and Kean stayed at Goodison Park for the rest of the season. He had a few more opportunities under Ancelotti but again it didn’t see him gain a regular place in the team.

Then just before deadline day in this summer’s transfer window, Kean was allowed to join PSG even though Everton lacked other forwards in reserve. I wasn’t sure this was a good idea at the time.

Since going there, he’s done well in Paris and now it seems there is a strong possibility he will not return to Goodison Park when his loan ends.

PSG have made noises about wanting to keep the striker at the French club and once more it seems Juventus are back into the race to re-sign him too.

The French club have a new coach in ex-Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino in charge and he has a reputation for managing young players successfully. Depending on what happens to their star forward Kylian Mbappe, he might well be determined to keep Kean.

I would have mixed feelings about letting Kean go only a year after the Toffees had brought him in for such a big fee. He’s a forward with genuine talent as his performances with the French giants has underlined.

To be honest I hoped he would become the player that his talent has suggested and would have given Everton another forward option and meant the team were less reliant on Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison. Kean’s body language before he moved, did suggest he was very unhappy at Everton though.

But with Calvert-Lewin now injured for an unknown amount of time and the Brazilian’s indifferent form, the need for other options up front has been thrown into greater light. Had he still been at Goodison he might well have got that chance to shine.

Having spent £30 million on the then teenager, it is essential that the club ensures they get at least as much as they spent on him.

Well a potential bidding war between these two clubs might benefit the Blues and would presumably ratchet up the price the club would get for Kean if they let him go.
