Bernard’s agent will travel to England to discuss his client’s future amidst interest from AS Roma.
Marcel Brands poured cold water over the hopes of many Everton fans when he publicly claimed that the Toffees are not looking at any January arrivals. Despite numerous rumours floating, it appears that Carlo Ancelotti is content with the squad he has at his disposal. While some may argue that Everton have wafer thin depth in some areas but none of us should be surprised by Brands’ statement as Everton rarely do business in January.
However, the Director of Football pressed that the club will concentrate on offloading fringe players to trim the squad and in turn reduce the load on the wage bill. Yannick Bolasie and Muhamed Besic will once again hunt for new clubs after failed summer attempts while there are also whispers of Cenk Tosun and Jonjoe Kenny looking for options.

The Bernard story is also doing grounds since the last few weeks with AS Roma being huge admirers of the Brazilian. Roma boss Paulo Fonseca has a cordial relationship with Bernard and would love to have him in Rome. According to Calciomeracto.it, Bernard’s agent will be flying to England and meet Everton chiefs to discuss the future of his client.
Bernard isn’t a key player in Ancelotti’s system and has played as a second fiddle to Richarlison and Alex Iwobi. The 28 year old has just clocked 544 minutes of football this season. Bernard likes the idea of reunification with Fonseca in Rome but so far no official talks have been initiated by the Italian outfit.
The Royal Blues want to redeem Robin Olsen on a permanent basis. There were reports of a potential swap deal involving Olsen and Bernard but so far nothing concrete has been established. Should a potential departure take place, the Toffees could be forced to search for options as they cannot afford to further deplete the squad depth, especially in the attack.
Bernard’s agent has been candid about his client’s future. There is a possibility that a deal can take place but at the moment it’s all transfer talk.
