Everton easily progresses to the fifth round of FA Cup.

Everton put on a great display against Sheffield Wednesday as they handed Neil Thompson’s side a 3-0 defeat at Goodison Park. Carlo Ancelotti played a strong squad to make sure the Toffees made it through to the fifth round where they will more than likely play Spurs with the Italian hoping for a deep cup run to bring Everton their first trophy since the 1995 FA Cup.

The entire team gave a good account of themselves, and with the Toffees playing another two games this week it means Ancelotti may have to rotate a bit more than usual, especially the Newcastle game on Saturday.

Players like Olsen, Gomes and Coleman all played great and with Doucoure and Allan both out (Doucoure is only out for the Leicester game) then it gives people like Davies and Gomes a chance to impress, and if the Toffees can pick up a win against the Foxes then it shows that this team has much more depth than expected at the start of the season.

Here are the three things we can take from the game against Sheffield Wednesday:

James Rodriguez is Magic

Now before I go into detail here, yes, Sheffield Wednesday are a possible relegation candidate in the Championship, but as proven by teams like Bradford City in the past and Crawley Town this season, the FA Cup can provide magic for smaller teams which can lead to great storylines for all football fans.

With all of that out of the way, James Rodriguez had a fantastic game, he picked up two assists in the game, but it arguably should’ve been three or four, the only problem was Richarlison being caught offside multiple times throughout the game. James made the game look so easy and it was great to see him play 85 minutes without much of a struggle and this is a very positive sign for Everton fans, especially if James can keep himself healthy.

James played a ridiculous eight key passes, which even against a Championship team is a mouthwatering statistic for all Everton fans to look at. The Colombian also created two big chances which ended up being his two assists to Mina and Richarlison, along with this he completed 85% of his passes and played four accurate long balls.

The thing is with a player like James, they can shine like this against any level of competition, the only problem with him has been fitness and the more game time he gets then the more he can improve his sharpness to hopefully get back to his best.
