Everton cruise past Sheffield Wednesday into the fifth round of the FA Cup.

Everton went into Sunday’s FA Cup tie as favourites, coming up against struggling Championship side Sheffield Wednesday. However, the Blues did have a number of injuries to deal that threatened to disrupt the side, with Lucas Digne and Alex Iwobi ruled out of the game, along with more long term absentees in the likes of Allan and Jean-Phillipe Gbamin.

With the players that were available to him, Carlo Ancelotti picked his strongest possible side and called for a better performance from his players than they gave him in the previous round against Rotherham United.

Ancelotti must have been pleased with what he seen last night as the Toffees cruised to an impressive 3-0 victory against Sheffield Wednesday. Everton took the lead in the first half through Dominic Calvert-Lewin and put in a thoroughly professional second half performance, adding goals from Richarlison and Yerry Mina, to put the tie to bed.

It was a solid overall team performance from the Blues, but here are the individual player ratings for last night’s FA Cup tie.

Robin Olsen – 7

As he did against Rotherham in the previous round, Robin Olsen deputised for Jordan Pickford and put in another professional performance. The Swedish goalkeeper had a fairly quiet evening but had to be alert to save a couple of early efforts, most notably a well-struck drive from Adam Reach in the first half.

Olsen was also needlessly clattered by Wednesday striker Callum Paterson, but remained unfazed and was a calming presence throughout the game and dealt with everything he had to with relative ease.
