Everton were dreadful against Newcastle United.

Everton’s shocking 2-0 loss at home to Newcastle United really raises questions over Everton’s aspirations this season. Performances like that won’t get you to Europe. A crisis stricken Newcastle side, without a win in 11 games, come to Goodison Park and convincingly win against a rotten Everton side that lacked pace and desire.

Callum Wilson’s second half brace meant that he had scored for the sixth time in last four games against Everton. There was no hiding from the fact that the team were unimpressive and bland. It wasn’t individual errors or one bad fish in the lake but a number of unimpressive performances during the game.

Here are the Everton player ratings:

Jordan Pickford – 6

Carlo Ancelotti stuck with Jordan Pickford despite his last game blunder, which was the right thing to do, in order to keep the Englishman’s confidence up. Pickford didn’t disappoint, pulling a spectacular save from a bullet header in the first half. The Englishman was not at fault for any Newcastle games and couldn’t have done much to prevent the goals.
