Lack on involvement from Alex Iwobi meant he was substituted in the second half.

Alex Iwobi – 4

Alex Iwobi was never able to find the rhythm required during the game and was not able to involve himself in the play. It was hard to make out whether he was on the field or not. We have seen the Nigerian excel in this position but Jamal Lewis negotiated him well and kept him out of Everton attack, numbing the right side of the Toffees.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin – 5

Another long, frustrating afternoon for Dominic Calvert-Lewin. He was deprived of good service and found difficulties in nagviating through the Newcastle horde that were constantly around him. Richarlison had some decent chances and even made bright runs. His sidefooted effort from the edge of the box should have been better. The Brazilian is going through a very rough patch and he needs to get back to his best so Everton benefit from it. The 23 year old continued to drive forward with the ball but was often hit by the roadblock of Newcastle players or dispossessed often. His industrious work rate was appreciable.
