When the January transfer window began, Everton were expected to offload players in order to trim the size of the wage bill. Yannick Bolasie was expected to leave after being told by Carlo Ancelotti that he doesn’t feature in the plans since the summer. However, the Toffees exodus has now seen three players leave on transfer deadline day.

Goalkeeper Jonas Lossl left Everton to join his former club FC Midtjylland on a permanent transfer. Cenk Tosun finally left Goodison Park on loan after being linked to a horde of clubs in last few days – namely Besiktas, CSKA Moscow and Celta Vigo. The Turk has rejoined his former club Besiktas on loan until the end of the season.

Jonjoe Kenny is a Jeremie Frimpong replacement

The third deadline day exit is of Jonjoe Kenny. The Everton academy product has joined Celtic on a short loan, as per Sky Sports. The Scottish giants were in desperate need to strengthen their right back spot after Jeremie Frimpong left Glasgow to join Bayer Leverkusen for £11.5 million. Kenny was also a target for Burnley but Celtic eventually beat the Clarets to the 23 year old.

Kenny had a bright loan stint at Schalke 04 last season. When he returned to the Merseyside, Everton decided to keep faith in him. However, the 23 year old has failed to nail down a regular role in the team. In fact, he has just made a few sporadic appearances, clocking 313 minutes of footballing action. The Toffees remain determined to find a long term successor to Seamus Coleman but Kenny is certainly not a preferred candidate.

Celtic boss Neil Lennon was very optimistic about the signing ahead of Kenny’s official announcement. The 23 year old will not be available for Celtic’s game against Kilmarnock but would be in contention for the Motherwell game.

"He’s a player I’ve liked for a while. He is at Everton obviously and had a very good career at England youth at under-21 level and I watched quite a bit of him last season when he was on loan at Schalke. I like his qualities, his enthusiasm for the game, his character, and I think he will bring that to the team. He is a bubbly sort of personality and he plays that way as well. (via Evening Express)"
