More new transfer rumours surfacing this time linking Everton to a summer move for young Aston Villa starlet Tyreik Wright.

The Daily Mail claim Everton are competing with the defending Scottish Premiership champions Celtic to lure the 19-year-old away from Villa Park when his contract ends this summer.

Of course as usual this is almost certainly just paper speculation but Wright is certainly a highly-regarded young attacking talent who would appear to have a good future in the game.

The Villa youth team product has been on loan at Walsall in League Two and has certainly impressed there although that’s obviously considerably less testing an environment than the Premier League.

The young Irishman is exactly the type of player that Marcel Brands goes for if he gets his way. He’s a left-footed right-winger with plenty of pace too, which is what the Toffees have been looking for now for quite a while.

Bringing in a player like that would offer much-needed additional pace and creativity and perfectly compliment Richarlison operating on the left.

His signing would be a little similar to Niels Nkounkou who Brands brought in last summer just before the summer transfer window opened.

Nkounkou was a highly-rated teenager, also 19, who was out of contract at Marseille when Everton swooped beating Juventus to the Frenchman.

One other player who would certainly fit the bill for that position and has much more top-level experience is Leon Bailey.

The Jamaican is a player the Blues ahve been linked with regularly in recent months. He’s a very quick, skillful forward who can play on either flank or up front. He’s got a good goal record as well and has netted eleven times so far this season.

Bailey would seem a really good bet if the Toffees want a player to come in straight away and perform whereas a young talent like Wright is obviously very much a longer-term project whose eventual outcome would be more uncertain.
