Reading FC full back Omar Richards has put an end to numerous speculations regarding his future as Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich have reportedly sealed his transfer. The Bavarians have been preparing to strengthen the team for the next season already as they successfully finalized the transfer of Dayot Upamecano from RB Leipzig last week.

Richards has quickly become a hot asset in Reading’s ranks as the Berkshire team are flying high in the Championship with a possible chance to finish in the playoff position. The left back has impressed many across England and Europe for his all round abilities.

Everton and West Ham United had been credited with a considerable interest but in the end, Germans have managed to seal his signing. According to 90min, Bayern Munich have struck an agreement with Richards to sign him after the end of this season on a free transfer. His contract at Reading was coming to an end at the end of this season and a new deal was said to be on the cards but now it appears that the 23 year old will trade the Reading jersey for the Bayern Red.

Journalist Christian Falk also reported that Richards to Bayern Munich on a free transfer is a done deal. After being prematurely released by Fulham at the age of 15 in his youth career, Richards has worked hard for his ascent to recognition and is one of the most exciting full backs in England.

Everton miss out on Omar Richards

Everton’s left back department consists of Lucas Digne and Neils Nkounkou as the Frenchman’s understudy. Ben Godfrey has done a more than capable job in recent times when called upon in that position. Richards was a target for Everton as they hoped to find a more prepared and traditional backup option to Digne. Nkounkou is still a work in progress and Godfrey doesn’t offer the attacking capabilities that the club requires from a modern day full back.

However, signing a left back shouldn’t be a priority as there are other areas that need more immediate attention. So missing out on Richards won’t hurt Everton. As for Bayern Munich, they have a decent option who can compete with Alphonso Davies and replace David Alaba who looks Real Madrid bound.
