Everton: 3 Things We Learnt from woeful loss against Fulham
Carlo Ancelotti applauded Joshua King in his post match comments.
Joshua King Makes an Impact
After his January deadline day move from Bournemouth, Josh King has slowly been getting more game time under Ancelotti. Against Manchester United last weekend, he made a short appearance off the bench. Winning the free kick from which Calvert-Lewin scored a last-gasp equalizer.
In the second half against Fulham, King again came on off the bench. Everton had looked lethargic and lacked any threat in attack all game. King’s pace and direct running instantly caused Fulham problems as he grew into the match.
Richarlison, who was isolated for most of the first half, began playing better once the former Bournemouth striker joined him on the pitch. Having the two strikers link up gave the Royal Blues more threat in attack and arguably Josh King should have started the game. He was unlucky in having a goal ruled out for offside yet by that point Fulham were already two goals up and the game was lost.
If he gains Ancelotti’s trust then perhaps King will be able to impact games from the start, in what will be a hectic end to the season for Everton.
