Everton host Manchester City on Wednesday night at Goodison Park.

Everton welcome Manchester City to play the rescheduled fixture after the Man City COVID outbreak in December forced the Premier League to postpone the tie. Carlo Ancelotti’s men are on the hunt for their first home victory in the league since 19th December.

Everton have shown polar opposite form when playing home and away. The impressive away record is easily one of the best in the league (23 points in 11 games) but the terrible home record (14 points in 11 games) neutralizes any advantage generated by the rich run of form on the road.

Everton’s plan to play Gylfi Sigurdsson as a No.9 backfired severely against Fulham. Any such experiments against the league leaders and potential title winning favourites can prove to be very fatal. To make matters worse for the Toffees, star striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin remains sidelined for the tie. Meanwhile, Jordan Pickford trained with the group after missing four games due to a side injury.

Talisman James Rodriguez picked up a knock in the game against Fulham but is fit and available for the clash against Pep Guardiola’s men. The biggest news that gives a lot of optimism is that Allan has returned and is ready. Here is the Everton predicted lineup:

Goalkeeper:  Jordan Pickford

Jordan Pickford is most likely to return between the posts as he has resumed training, providing evidence that he has recovered from the side injury. In his absence, deputy keeper Robin Olsen conceded 10 goals in four games but it is worth mentioning that it was the defence that let him down.

In fact, had it not been for Olsen’s brilliant saves in some games, the Toffees would have conceded even more goals. Pickford will be a busy man against a team that played without an instinctive, traditional striker in the last game.
