Everton predicted lineup vs Manchester City: Joshua King and Allan start, Sigurdsson benched
Allan is ready and in contention to start for Everton.
Midfield:
Central midfielder: Allan
Ancelotti confirmed in the press conference that Allan is available after a lengthy lay off of almost two months. The Brazilian was on the bench for the Fulham game but is now in contention to start and should most definitely start in order to guard the back four which has been vulnerable in the recent games.
Allan not only guards the backline but also breaks down the opposition buildups and launches attacks for his team. Manchester City like to have the ball and control the maximum possession, in such a scenario, brisk counter attacking will be Everton’s friend and Allan could well be the man launching them.
Central midfielder: Abdoulaye Doucoure
Abdoulaye Doucoure didn’t have a memorable game against Fulham. He’ll be keen to improve himself against Manchester City, especially after his partner in crime, Allan, has returned. The former Watford man’s energy and combative nature will be necessary to kill the domination of City’s midfield.
Attacking midfielder: James Rodriguez
James Rodriguez has been ecstatic since joining Everton but has also been a victim of the harsh and physical nature of the Premier League. However, he’ll have to live with it and find ways to overcome such problems as Ancelotti suggested it is almost impossible in Football to avoid contact.
The Toffees will need a James masterclass if they are to stand a chance against the rampant Manchester City side who have been demolishing every team in their path. He will be key to unlocking the City defence and perhaps take advantage of their high line to thread balls to the likes of Richarlison.
