Tom Davies put in another commendable performance in the Everton midfield.

Tom Davies is the heart of Everton

Here’s another example of players improving massively under Carlo Ancelotti. Tom Davies had always been a player who’s passion kept him at the club, and with the rumours of him possibly leaving for Watford in the previous Summer, Toffees fans believed this was it to the player they had been comparing to Steven Gerrard when he first burst onto the scene.

However, Everton disagreed with Watford over the loan deal. This led to the academy graduate staying at the club, and ever since Allan’s injury, the Englishman has impressed both the fans and Ancelotti. In my opinion, he needs to stay in the starting XI for future fixtures, especially the Merseyside derby.

Davies has worked hard to keep himself in Ancelotti’s plans, and in recent games, he has seemed much more comfortable on the ball. He has a good blend of passion and aggression, which has lead to him being a suitable replacement for the missing Allan.

Davies has slowly started to show that he’s the heart of this Everton squad. Whenever he’s replaced, the team seems to perform worse. Having somebody so passionate in the first XI could really help Everton in the future, especially if Davies can continue to develop his game besides some very talented midfielders.
