Everton are now winless in last five home games in the Premier League.

Everton suffered a 3-1 loss at home against league leaders and title winning favourites Manchester City. Despite the loss, the Toffees put a much hearty and resilient performance as compared to the dreadful loss to Fulham. There was clear difference in quality but a strong fight was given by Everton. The Merseysiders did have certain counter attacking spells where they looked deadly but in the end Manchester City’s quality was too superior.

Carlo Ancelotti lined up Everton in a 4-2-3-1 with Lucas Digne in a more advanced role. Alex Iwobi made a return but surprisingly, James Rodriguez was left on the bench. The Toffees reverted to the back four consisting of four centre backs with Ben Godfrey and Mason Holgate as left back and right back respectively.

Here are the Everton player ratings:

Jordan Pickford – 6

The Englishman made a return to the starting lineup after missing four games due to a side injury. Was forced to make a save from a Joao Cancelo shot in the early stages of the game. Pickford was called into action several times and he didn’t disappoint. He couldn’t have done anything to save the sizzling strike from Riyad Mahrez. He made a total of four saves and was alert in the goal area.
