Everton’s multidimensional expansion plans are gaining momentum. Today, Everton got approval for the construction of the 52,000 seater Bramley-Moore Dock stadium from the Liverpool City council. On the pitch, Carlo Ancelotti kick started a revolution that aims at helping the Toffees bridge the gap to first Europe and then the Champions League.

In order to get to Europe and remain in the mix of top six consistently, the club needed to drastically improve the squad quality. While it has been achieved till certain extent in two transfer windows, there’s room for more. Midfield and central defence have been upgraded with the arrivals of Allan, Abdoulaye Doucoure in the engine room and Ben Godfrey in the defence.

The search for Seamus Coleman successor

One key department that needs paramount attention in the upcoming transfer window is of right back. Seamus Coleman was terrific against Liverpool and kept Andy Robertson in check. The Irishman responded well to the tactical shift made by Ancelotti that pushed him in a slightly advanced role. But, it cannot be ruled out that sooner or later Everton will need to find his successor.

He’s on the wrong side of 30 and niggling issues have become more frequent. Jonjoe Kenny doesn’t provide assurances to take over from Coleman which is why Everton will have to explore options in the transfer market. The Toffees have been linked to several right backs recently. Back in summer, the Merseysiders tried to bring Alessandro Florenzi from AS Roma but the Italian instead traded Rome for Paris.

Max Aarons a suitable candidate for Coleman’s successor

LOSC Lille’s Mehmet Zeki Celik was one of the more recent mentions with the Les Dogues prepared to cash in on him in the summer but Roma also remains in the battle. Godfrey’s ex-team mate, Max Aarons, is a name that also finds admirers in the Everton hierarchy. According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Everton are interested in Max Aarons who is on Ancelotti’s list. The Italian is looking for a right back in the upcoming summer transfer window.

However, pursuing Aarons to join the Royal Blues will be an arduous task. Manchester United have scouted Aarons whereas Bayern Munich have already opened a dialogue with Norwich for the £18 million full back.

The 21 year old had an impressive campaign in the Premier League despite Norwich’s woes last season. Aarons showcased stellar attacking skills along with defensive solidity, a pre-requisite in modern day full backs nowadays. His stock is rising with each performance and more and more clubs have started to take notice.

The situation at right back can become precarious if the club fails to sign a Coleman successor in the upcoming transfer window. Signing a right back should be first on the priority list. Coleman is unarguably one of the most loyal servers to the club but time waits for no man. Money needs to be invested in a potent full back such as Aarons so that Everton can reap benefits on the pitch.

Will the Toffees manage to sign Max Aarons amidst interest from Bayern Munich and Manchester United?
