Everton fans paint the game in their own way.

In its rich history of 128 years, not once was Goodison Park closed for the devout Everton fans until the Corona Virus pandemic brought the entire world to a brief halt. Sports across the globe were suspended with the Premier League going into a three month hiatus.

The resumption of Bundesliga gave other leagues a blueprint on how to operate keeping the Corona Virus protocols in practice. The English Top Flight resumed on June 17, 2020 but without one key aspect that brought the game of football to life: The Fans.

“Football is nothing without the fans”

No one resonated with Sir Matt Busby’s famous quote until now. Stadiums looked like a desolate place without the vociferous fans enchanting club anthems, inspiring the team by giving them the extra injection of motivation. An empty Goodison Park gives a feeling of eerie.

The Everton faithful have been the twelfth man for the team for decades. The ardent supporters have always stood by the side of the team even in the hardest of times, offering unquestionable loyalty.

The undying hope of seeing the Toffees back at the pinnacle of English football and reaching Europe is the fuel that keeps the fire burning in the fans. Now, under Carlo Ancelotti, Everton are taking steps to achieve their primary goal of finishing in the top six but sadly there are no fans at Goodison to back the team.

Goodison has been one of the toughest away grounds for opponents but without the home fan support, it isn’t a fortress. Taking points at Goodison Park has become easy pickings for the visiting teams. In 12 home games, the Toffees have just managed to triumph in four games. West Ham United, Fulham, Leeds United, Newcastle United, Manchester City and Manchester United have convincingly won at Gwladys Street.
