This may be a name that is unknown to some Everton fans unless they tuned into the Europa League this week and specifically took a look at the Leicester vs Slavia Prague game. One player who stood out was 19-year old forward Abdallah Sima, who grabbed the second goal for the Czech side.

This is Sima’s first season for Slavia Prague after joining from second-division Czech side FC MAS Taborsko, and he’s been nothing short of magnificent for the red and whites. The Senegalese forward has scored 19 goals and created five assists in only 28 appearances, which is a fantastic return for somebody who’s still only 19.

Slavia Prague have proven they can provide Premier League talent for cheap; look at West Ham’s mini raid on the club for Tomas Soucek, who has become one of the best defensive midfielders in the Premier League in only his first full season for the Hammers, and Vladimir Coufal who has been a serviceable right-back for David Moyes’ European contending West Ham.

Sima’s value could skyrocket if Prague continues to shock the Europa League, and a win against Steven Gerrard’s high-flying Rangers could do just that. It would be a good idea for the Toffees to start keeping tabs on Sima now. He’s a dangerous goal scorer and can play a pressing forward role, a role that can be very useful off the bench when the opposition is starting to tire.

Abdallah Sima is one of the most exciting youngsters in Europe

Sima has been compared (via FBRef) to players like Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Marcus Thuram and most importantly, our own Brazillian forward Richarlison. The comparison to Richarlison does make a lot of sense; both are forwards that can be extremely dangerous off the ball and can trouble defences with their tricky runs and movements.

Sima may be playing against a lower level of opposition, but he’s extremely hard-working. He can be played across the entire front-line, so it’s a no-brainer that Everton should be keeping their eyes on him before Europe’s elite start sniffing around.

More from Prince Rupert's Tower

Sima’s stats show how much of a dangerous goal-scorer he really is; the Senegalese forward averages 0.66 non-penalty goals per 90, which puts him in the top 1% of forwards in Europe, and above players like Harry Kane and Everton’s very own Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

This doesn’t say that Sima is better than either of these, but what it does say is that he puts away his chances when he is given them, something which made strikers like Ole Gunnar Solskjaer legendary for their production off of the bench.

What can Abdallah Sima offer Everton?

Everton’s current back-up striker is Joshua King, who hasn’t played much since joining the Toffees for £5 million. King is a proven Premier League forward, but he’s also 29, and Everton could want to get younger to continue to build this future project. Don’t get me wrong, if King starts contributing off the bench, then Everton don’t need a new back-up striker, but King is yet to score for Everton, which is understandable given his limited opportunities.

If King doesn’t produce for Everton, the Toffees may choose not to extend his six-month contract, which would then mean it would be time to search the market for a new back-up forward, and Sima would be the perfect option.

He’s only valued at around £7 million. This could be subject to change depending on Slavia Prague’s Europa League campaign, but if they proceed to be knocked out by Rangers, then Everton could have a bargain on their hand, which they need to pounce on.
