Mason Holgate had an awful evening against Burnley

Defence:

Mason Holgate – 4

Mason Holgate is becoming a liability in the right back position. His crosses fail to create any dangers, his defending was shaky and perhaps he was in the good books of the footballing gods as he escaped from giving away a penalty. Was rightly taken off for Seamus Coleman in the second half. Holgate is surely going to have a bright future at Everton but it won’t be at right back.

Michael Keane – 5

Usually astute, Keane had nervy moments in the first half as he was caught out as Everton made Burnley looked like prime Barcelona. The Englishman stabilized himself as Everton found a way back into the game via a Dominic Calvert-Lewin goal.  Improved in the second half but it was too late already.

Ben Godfrey – 5.5

Ben Godfrey produced a very important block from a Chris Wood shot as the Burnley striker had space to take the shot. The former Norwich City man went onto make two other solid blocks in the first half but found it difficult to contain Wood and Matej Vydra.

Lucas Digne – 5.5

Escaped an injury scare in the second half. He was far more productive, solid and positive compared to Holgate on the opposite flank. Put in a dangerous ball for Calvert-Lewin but the 23 year old couldn’t head home.
