Andre Gomes started alongside Allan in the Everton midfield

Allan – 7

Allan was walking on a tight rope after being booked early in the first half but the Brazilian was cautious yet brave. He was careful not to get caught up and launch unnecessary challenges but timed his tackles close to perfection. The help from Andre Gomes eased Allan’s job by a little as the 27 year old racked a solid performance in the middle of the park.

Andre Gomes – 7

Had the scoreline been been in favour of Everton, fans would’ve celebrated Gomes’ performance. Playing ahead of Tom Davies, partnering Allan in the midfield, the former Barcelona man didn’t disappoint. Gomes pressed the City players and forced them to retreat at times and even won the ball.

The Portuguese midfielder was also motivated while going forward as he played some fantastic balls upfront, notably the cross to Calvert-Lewin. Gomes also made seen recoveries and should be content with his display.

Gylfi Sigurdsson – 6

Gylfi Sigurdsson also returned to the lineup after mssing the last game due to injury. Everton’s game plan was clear to absorb the pressure and try to hit City on the counter while also creating danger via set pieces.

The Icelandic technician couldn’t flex his delivery skills and remained without the ball for most periods of the play.
