Federico Bernardeschi could help Everton solve right side problems

Federico Bernardeschi + £30 million

Another transfer that could offer a solution to Everton’s problems on the right-wing, 27-year-old Federico Bernardeschi, is mainly a bench player for Juventus with 16 of his 23 appearances coming off the bench, a problem that has plagued Bernardeschi’s career while at Juventus. The Italian has never started more than 20 games for the Old Lady, and the last time he did was his fantastic 16/17 season for Florentina, where he scored 11 goals and made four assists.

One problem could be that Bernardeschi hasn’t hit five league goals since that season at Florentina. Still, it’s hard for the winger if he’s part of an attack that’s constantly chopping and changing with no regularity. He needs to play somewhere where he will start, and that place could be Goodison Park.

Bernardeschi works best in a system where he is a complementary piece; he may have been the young star for Florentina in the 16/17 season, but in reality, he was the secondary man in the attack, with Croatian forward Nikola Kalinic being Florentina’s star man when it came to goals, this is why Juventus initially signed him, to have him play a supporting role to players like Paulo Dybala and Gonzalo Higuain, but he was never able to get that consistent starting place.

Under Carlo Ancelotti, Bernardeschi wouldn’t be expected to be the star man; he’d be behind Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Richarlison and James Rodriguez in the attack, something that may actually suit the Italian because it allows him to play his natural game without getting all the attention. It’s a deal that could benefit Everton massively, especially with Ancelotti’s track record with improving players during his time at the club.

It’s possible that Ancelotti could get Bernardeschi back to his best, and the £30 million extra that Juventus would have to provide could help Everton massively in the transfer market this upcoming Summer, especially if Kean has no intention of staying in Merseyside and wants to return to his original club.
