Barcelona have a huge transitional summer ahead of them. A number of players could be shown the exit door as the club attempts to reduce the burden on club finances by lightening the wage budget. The likes of Antoine Griezmann, Philippe Coutinho, Samuel Umtiti, Francisco Trincao and others could be sold. Everton must consider one of these talented players in the Barca ranks.

While Griezmann and Coutinho aren’t necessarily Everton compatible, the name of Trincao offers some excitement. Newly elected president Joan Laporta is going to do everything in his power to sign Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund. The sales of Griezmann and other players would be to raise funds but the possible sale of Trincao will be for tactical and financial reasons.

According to Spanish media outlet El Confidencial, the Barcelona board is considering selling the Portuguese attacker after Ronald Koeman’s change of tactics. The former Everton manager has deployed the Blaugrana in a 3-5-2 or a 3-4-2-1 with Lionel Messi and Ousmane Dembele up front.

His change in system has restricted the likes of Trincao to the bench and just a few substitute appearances. Barca signed him for £26 million from SC Braga and has a deal at Camp Nou till 2025 but the system change at Barca puts limitations on Trincao’s role. In such case, the club won’t mind selling the 21 year old and recouping a respectable sum of money, especially when there is interest from Premier League sides, with Wolves and Leicester City linked before.

Everton must consider Francisco Trincao

Everton could seriously consider signing the 21 year old winger to bolster the right wing. Everton’s right side problems are glaringly evident and need to be solved before it manifests into a disaster.

Trincao possesses startling skills of a classic winger – blistering pace, neat dribbling and ability to take on and evade defenders in tight spaces. With these credentials, he combines some impressive playmaking qualities and you have a dangerous player in your roster. His tall stature allows him to physically dominate the opposition.

Everton lacks a right winger with such dexterity. Alex Iwobi can play as a right winger but the Nigerian hasn’t always looked comfortable. James Rodriguez is suited for a central role, behind the striker rather than starting on the right and drifting inwards.

Moise Kean is eyed by Juventus and PSG and a sale is likely this summer. A potential sale of Kean plus the financial backing of Farhad Moshiri can allow the Toffees to spend freely in the market. Trincao is currently valued at £22.5 million (Transfermarkt) and even though Barcelona may not want to cut losses, a reasonable deal in a similar bracket could be possible.
