Real Madrid are reportedly ready to sell a number of their players to fund moves for Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe and this could revive a possible deal for Everton.

The Spanish giants are looking to fund these two mega-deals for the two most sought after forwards in World football, Haaland and Mbappe, and this might open the door for Everton to secure a player they have long been linked with: Isco.

This was a rumour that gathered pace last year and again around the time of the January transfer window. There were stories that Isco was a player on his way out of Madrid after falling down the pecking order at the Bernabeu.

Well nothing came of it then, but if indeed Real are ready for a summer fire-sale then a move for the Spanish star might well be revived.

Isco is, like so many others Everton are linked with, a player that Carlo Ancelotti knows well and admires from his successful stint managing the La Liga giants.

And the Blues boss was a little coy when he was asked about these earlier rumours surrounding Isco. He didn’t confirm the Toffees alleged interest but he didn’t entirely rule out a move either leaving the door open for a possible deal. The club also presumably have good contacts with Real having secured the James Rodriguez transfer last year.

Isco has plenty of talent and a ton of experience at the highest level of the game and he would certainly represent a significant improvement on the attacking options available to Ancelotti in his current midfield. He can also link midfield and attack, something the Blues don’t naturally have.

While the Everton manager has abdundant defensive qualities in last year’s signings Allan and Abdoulaye Doucoure as well as a rejuvenated Tom Davies and hopefully soon the returning Jean-Philippe Gbamin, his midfield lacks genuine creativity and goals.

More from Prince Rupert's Tower

Ancelotti has tried different options like Gylfi Sigurdsson, Rodriguez and Alex Iwobi in central midfield and he may feel that with those plus the four mentioned above he has enough to play with in the centre of midfield, but I’m not sure.

Additionally, Isco can also operate from a wide position and as a centre-forward and that too might be useful.

This season Isco has played wide and also up front and while he’s not got spectacular stats for sure, it has to be acknowledged that he’s not played much mostly coming on as a substitute.

The Toffees certainly need more options, width and creativity from the flanks and while Isco might not offer the greatest pace he can certainly add that additional flair.

Well it’s all maybes and possiblities, but if indeed Real Madrid are considering a clear-out then it will be intersting to see if Ancelotti and Everton do indeed join the race for the unsettled Spainish player this summer.
