In sort of Everton related news, it seems as though Bayern Munich won’t be extending the loan deal for a player linked with a move to Goodison Park; Douglas Costa.

The German giants have decided not to make his time with the Budesliga champions a permanent one possibly leaving the door open for the Brazilian to move to Everton as part of a swap deal with his parent club Juventus.

This goes back to earlier rumours that the Italian side wanted to tempt the Toffees with one or two of their surplus players in exchange for Moise Kean returning to the Turin club this summer.

Juventus have been regularly linked with a move to bring their former player back to Italy only eighteen months or so after he left to join the Blues in summer 2019.

He’s not settled on Merseyside and has struggled with discipline and was unable to show the sort of form he was bought for even when he did play.

So he went out on loan to PSG and it appears they along with Juventus are in a race for his signature, assuming Everton do decide to sell of course.

Well if the Toffees are willing to let him leave, the French club are it seems ready to make Kean’s move a permanent one although there is some confusion over exactly what the details would be. ‘

Anyway, some of the stories about Kean’s future included rumours he might be part of a swap for a couple of Juve’s squad players. The ones mentioned are alleged long-term Blues target Adrien Rabiot, Aaron Ramsey and Douglas Costa.

The Brazilian is a strange link to Everton and not a player who would immediately seem well suited to a move to Goodison Park.

Costa is though on paper a very good player and one that might be the kind Everton need. He is a strong attacking midfielder and can play wide or central positions being particularly effective on the left. He’s actually similar to Ramsey in terms of his attacking qualities and is the same age 30.

Given that he would seem an unlikely player for Carlo Ancelotti to be interested in especially as he’s hardly been pulling up trees back at his former club Bayern.

There is a sort of albeit tenuous link to a current Everton player as James Rodriguez was also a South American who had been on loan at Bayern Munich and was surplus to requirements at his parent club before making the move to the Premier League last summer.

As mentioned before if the endless rehabiliation of Jean-Philippe Gbamin actually results in him being fit and ready for next season, then the Toffees can concentrate on bringing in attacking midfielders as they will have enough defensive players. Might Costa be one of them?
