20-year old American Daryl Dike has been one of the key factors behind Barnsley’s fantastic run in the Championship under manager Valerian Ismael, the forward has scored seven goals in his 13 appearances for the Colliers as they look to make a shock promotion into the Premier League via the play-offs.
Dike, similarly to Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin, is a forward who can score a bucketload of goals without penalties, with a non-penalty goals rate of 0.74 per 90, 0.18 higher than Calvert-Lewin’s 0.56. He also stands at 6’0 and wins 6.4 aerial duels per 90, statistics that should remind Everton fans of their English talisman.
Ancelotti will want to sign a backup who can play similarly to Calvert-Lewin so he doesn’t have to change his system much if something happens to the Englishman, and Dike would be one of the better options, he’s still extremely young and for only around $20m (£15m) it could be a bargain that the Toffees should pounce on, especially if they let Josh King go in the Summer after a pretty disappointing six-month deal.
