Everton host Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday on Friday night. The Toffees have failed to conjure up an impressive run of results, winless in last five games but that is not the only worry. In fact, the current form is the least of their worries.
Last week, Carlo Ancelotti’s side were reduced to the bare minimum with just 12 first team players available for selection. The Toffees were truly down to bare and bones as they suffer from one of the worst injury crisis this season.

Everton had as many as 11 players on the injury list last time around: Jordan Pickford, Jean-Philippe Gbamin, Fabian Delph, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Yerry Mina, Tyler Onyango, Joshua King, Allan, Abdoulaye Doucoure, Andre Gomes and Bernard were out. Mina started against Brighton but picked up an injury mid game forcing him off.
The absence of Calvert-Lewin shocked many but the striker had a late abductor problem and had to miss the game. The Toffees looked toothless as Richarlison struggled as Everton’ lone striker upfront.
Everton injury news ahead of Tottenham Hotspur game
The injuries could possibly cost the Merseysiders a place in Europe as the Merseysiders dropped points again, sitting eight in the table with 48 points. The game against Spurs becomes even more crucial as they are the direct competitors for a spot in Europe, sitting one place and one point ahead of Everton.
Gbamin has had one of the worst lucks, just when he was ready after a lengthy layoff and even came on as a substitute against Palace but now has suffered another injury set back and is out for the rest of the season. The Ivorian doesn’t need surgery and the plan will be to have him back at the start of the next season.
Ancelotti was hopeful of having DCL, Allan and Andre Gomes back but Calvert-Lewin still remains unavailable against Spurs. Meanwhile, Allan, Joshua King, Gomes and Pickford will be available for selection.
The Italian manager also stated that he hopes to have Calvert-Lewin, Mina, Bernard and Delph available next week. Doucoure remains a long term absentee but his recovery is going well.
