Reports today claim Everton may get a second chance to sign the young Bayern Munich striker Joshua Zirkzee this summer.

Zirkzee was heavily linked with a move to Everton in previous transfer windows but eventually went to Parma in Serie A instead for a six month loan.

Now though he might be available again as Dutch media outlet Voetbal International say the young Netherlands international has not had much playing time to impress in the Italian top flight and so might be considering another move this summer.

However, there is a fly in the onitment as it looks as though the young forward could be facing surgery and might not play again this season.

That would almost certainly make it very unlikely that the Toffees would make a move for him in the upcoming transfer window if he’s still recovering from a major injury.

The Dutchman is a talented young forward who is highly regarded by his parent club Bayern Munich, but he has found it a struggle to break into the Bundesliga side, not suprising given that they have arguably the best striker in Europe in Robert Lewandowski.

This one seems another of those stories to put in the tray marked ‘highly unlikely’ but I do think Everton need another forward as well as more pace, width and and possibly an additional midfield reinforcement.

Related to this is the continuing uncertainly over the future of two forwards at the Blues, neither of whom seem to have a long-term future at Goodison Park. They are Moise Kean and Josh King.

Kean’s future has been under question for a while now and indeed you could argue ever since he signed for the Toffees eighteen months ago.

He’s been enjoying his time in Paris since he went out on loan in January to PSG and has scored quite a few goals for the French club.

More from Prince Rupert's Tower

There has been plenty of rumours he might stay at PSG or return to Juventus or another club and now again today there is another story that Carlo Ancelotti wants to swap him for two of the Turin club’s players.

As for King, the Noweigan international has struggled badly to make any impact at Everton since his late-minute deadline day move back in January.

Ancelotti doesn’t seem to be interested in using him, just last night he decided to bring on a recently crocked Fabian Delph rather than the former Bournemouth forward despte the fact the Blues needed a goal.

Now there are stories that he might be moving on to Turkey with Galatasaray interested in taking the Norway player this summer.

However these various players future are sorted out it does seem that Everton need further reinforcements up front ready for next season.
