Hyperbolic transfer rumours continue to emerge with the latest claiming Carlo Ancelotti wants to bring Gareth Bale to Everton this summer.

This one seems an even more out of leftfield of a rumour than ones about Phlippe Coutinho or Sergio Aguero with speculation that the Everton boss wants to re-unite Bale with his former team-mate James Rodriguez.

Both have come to the Premier League this season as they have been frozen out by Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane.

Rodriguez has had a decent season, he started on fire during the first six weeks of the campaign as were the Toffees but then after the initial internaitonal break his form has been more inconsistent and he’s been plagued by renewed injury problems.

I’ve also written regularly about how one of the problems for Everton is finding a way to integrate him into a successful team and find a way to get the best from him while also having enough pace and width in the side.

As for Bale the Welsh superstar returned to his former club Tottenham when Jose Mourinho brought him back on transfer deadline day.

His move has been far less successful than his former Los Blancos team-mate. Bale hardly featured under the Portuguese who didn’t seem interested in using him despite his team’s often disfunctional attack which was so dependent on Harry Kane and Son.

Since Mourinho’s departure he has been given more of a chance and perhaps will make a telling contributution to securing Spurs European football next season, something their more likely to get than Rodriguez’s Everton.

Bale is a player who divides opinion he was a hugely talented footballer who was arguably one of the best four or five players in the world at his peak six or seven years ago.

He was a key part of the fabled RBB frontline at Real alongside Karim Benzema and Ronaldo. He won four Champions Leagues at Los Blancos with the first when Ancelotti was manager at the Bernabeu.

But Bale has also been a difficult player he hasn’t always had the best relationships with team-mates and his club. And he’s had plenty of injuries over the past few seasons.

I don’t think Everton need another ageing ex-Real Madrid forward with injury problems and a huge wage bill and I’d be very surpised to see the Welsh forward in royal blue next season. What’s next Messi to Goodison Park?!
