Several English clubs are apparently gearing up to try and prise Celtic’s French striker Odsonne Edouard from the Scottish side this summer. Should Everton be one of them?

According to reports in the Scottish Daily Record, Leicester City, Arsenal and Newcastle United are all keen on the Hoops frontman. And Everton have in the past been linked with a move for him.

After a season in which Celtic have lost their grip on the Scottish Premiership title to bitter rivals Rangers following a nine year stranglehold, the Glasgow club are looking to cash in on him.

This is very much their strategy to bring in and develop young talent and then sell it on for a handsome profit, usually to English clubs. One obvious example was Virgil Van Dijk who went to Southampton and then of course Liverpool in a big money deal.

However, this time round given some complicated financial clauses in his contract, they won’t be making anything like as much as they could have a year or so ago. They may rue not cashing in on him last summer.

Edouard has attracted interest from English clubs for a while now and is a forward who looks like he has the potential to succeed in the Premier League and would be very affordable, but is he the right sort of player for Everton?
