One of the world’s worst kept secrets is PSG’s interest in Everton striker Moise Kean. Now, it appears the French giants are keeping an eye on another Toffee player. Lucas Digne is being tracked by PSG as they strengthen their side this summer.

PSG has a terrifying attack but they have lacked reliable options in the full back area. The loan of Alessandro Florenzi didn’t work out and the likes of Laywin Kurzawa and Colin Dagba have struggled to make an impact despite the adequate game time. PSG Sporting director will want to go into the transfer market with the priority of signing full backs.

As far as the right back department goes, Fabrizio Romano has stated that Les Rouge et Bleu are looking to strike a deal with Inter Milan for Achraf Hakimi. However, nothing has been finalized yet.

In the left back department, Kurzawa and Juan Bernat remain available but neither have produced decent numbers with the latter remaining injured for almost the entirety of the season. Leonardo is searching for a left back and his eyes are fixated on signing AC Milan full back Theo Hernandez. The 23 year old has been one of the best performers for Milan in the past few seasons and his attacking pedigree has attracted the attention of PSG.

However, the deal for Hernandez looks very complex. Rossoneri are set to demand €80 million in exchange for the former Real Madrid man, a sum that PSG may not be prepared to pay. Priority still remains Hernandez with the French club trying to convince Milan over a €37 million deal with €25 million upfront. Leonardo will continue to try his luck with Hernandez but in case of a failure, Les Parisiens are prepared to look at other options.

The profile of Digne is being monitored by Leonardo, as per Le10 Sport. Digne previously donned the jersey of PSG from 2013 to 2016 before signing for Barcelona. The Frenchman eventually moved to Goodison and has been one of the best performers in the Royal Blue shirt.

Digne has been a fan favourite and puts a strong case to be considered as the best left back in the Premier League. In 30 league games this season, Digne has registered 7 assists and is second on the assist table of defenders behind Aaron Cresswell. The former PSG man has been solid defensively too, averaging 2.6 tackles per 90, 1.98 blocks per 90 and 3.22 clearances per 90 minutes.

The Frenchman is an excellent crosser of the ball and is second in the table for most crosses in the penalty area with 26 throughout the Premier League season. Digne also sits third for most overall crosses with 132 this term. (stats via FBref)

Such excellent numbers can never go unnoticed by the fans and by other clubs. In February, the 27 year old penned down a new deal with Everton extending his stay in Merseyside until 2025. But, this hasn’t deterred PSG’s desire as they monitor the Frenchman.

Digne is extremely happy at the club and neither the club nor the fans would want to see him leave. If PSG does fail in signing Hernandez then a possible discussion for a double Everton swoop could be on the cards. The Toffees wouldn’t mind a Kean sale but letting go of Digne would never be acceptable.
