Manchester United have reportedly made it a priority to sign Jadon Sancho this summer. If the Englishman does arrive at Old Trafford, life could be very difficult for Daniel James. Everton are looking for a winger and the Welshman could prove to be a solid option.

Carlo Ancelotti has openly stated that Everton will weigh in on their options for a winger with a goalscoring profile. The Toffees have seriously lacked pace which has stung them in the final third.

Everton have also been criticized for not playing possession based football and not being brave in the final third, often allowing the opposition to have the ball. Ancelotti wants to strengthen the attack, bringing in players who can help the team play an expansive brand of football.

Signing a winger will be a priority considering the lack of reliable options Everton have. Ancelotti cannot count on Alex Iwobi and Bernard. Manchester United are once again going to pursue Sancho this summer. If the Red Devils manage to sign Sancho from Dortmund, James’ future will face huge uncertainty.

Everton should offer Daniel James a way out of Manchester United

Manchester United wouldn’t want to hamper Mason Greenwood’s progression and Amad Diallo’s settling process hence James could face the axe. A report from Manchester Gazette (via Sports Mole) last week suggested that James is edging closer to a United exit.

If the Red Devils do put him on sale, Everton must attempt on signing the Welshman. The 23 year old has struggled for game time, making just 11 league starts. In 26 games he featured this season, James notched five goals and provided two assists. While these numbers are nowhere close to impressive, the reason could be the lack of extended run in the team.

More from Prince Rupert's Tower

James has everything in his locker that Everton are looking for in a winger. The former Swansea man has breathtaking pace, capable of outrunning his opponents easily. His quick feet and blistering speed can make him a nightmare for defenders.

The Royal Blues have been blamed for being sluggish on counterattacks. The arrival of James could solve this problem. His devastating pace on the counter along with swift control makes him a dangerous weapon to have in the team. When you have a player like James in the attack, playing high tempo football becomes an option and can be executed easily. A youngster like him adds soul to the team on the pitch.

He also has the experience of playing in the Premier League which could be beneficial compared to other Toffee targets from other leagues. The Red Devils want to sign Sancho and in case the 21 year old makes a move to the red half of Manchester, Everton should offer James a way out.

He has a market value of £17 million (via Transfermarkt) and has a contract at United till 2024 but taking into account that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer doesn’t count him as a key man in his core team, James could be available for an affordable price.
