Carlo Ancelotti left Everton for Real Madrid

Everton recently lost Carlo Ancelotti to Real Madrid which leaves the manager position vacant. After finishing the season in 10th which was way below the expectation as Everton were in contention for at least a spot in the UEFA Conference League but 2 defeats in the last 3 games against Sheffield United and Manchester City saw them finish 10th, 3 points off 7th place Spurs.

Big changes have to be made if Everton want to compete for a European spot next season and with Ancelotti gone, this is the right time to start a rebuild for the future. Paulo Fonseca, the man whose Shakhtar Donetsk side defeated Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in the group stage of the 2017-18 UEFA Champions League, has been linked with the Everton job.

Having coached in Portugal, Ukraine and Italy, Fonseca finished his contract at Roma and is now available to be hired. The Portuguese tactician can prove to be the perfect match for this Everton side, replacing Ancelotti at the helm.
