Rumours are building that Richarlison wants out of Everton and Carlo Ancelotti intends to bring him to Real Madrid.

Well my response is if Richarlison wants to leave Everton is let him – for the right price. That’s the key as the Toffees should be driving a really hard bargain and make anyone buying him pay the optimum price for the Brazilian attacker.

In the end if a player doesn’t want to play for the club then show him the door and get the best possible fee for him in return, that’s the best way to handle it.

Richarlison has intimated before that he isn’t fully committed to Everton and made noises last year about giving the club a year to see if it could match his ambitions.

After another disappointing season and failure to qualify for Europe, it seems likely that Ancelotti’s abrupt departure might have accelerated that desire to move on to pastures new.

The former Watford forward has had a poor season in 2020-21 and failed to reach double figures in goals after two campaigns in which he had managed a combined twenty six Premier League goals evenly divided between those seasons.

His often petulant and sometimes erratically selfish performances didn’t probably endear him to some Blues supporters or perhaps some of his team-mates either.

So if he wants to go whether that’s to Los Blancos or somewhere else, then I think Everton should be ready to let him and demand at least £50 million for him if not more.

In a way it’s slightly irritating as eighteen months or so ago he was being valued at close to £100 million in the hugely inflated pre-Covid transfer market.

At the time I wasn’t thinking that the club should look to sell him and I think most Toffees fans would have agreed it was better to keep the player, but now it feels like we maybe should have sold him then!

Along with Richarlison there’s another player who thinks he too big for Goodison Park and that’s Moise Kean the young striker on loan at PSG. His future is still very much in doubt but it’s hard to see him turning out for Everton next season.

If the Blues sold both these two they could get close to £100 million in combined fees and that would give the new manager a sizable amount to add to any other money made available to that individual to spend on new players.

And hopefully those new players would have a greater determination to do well at the club over the longer term, although maybe I’m being over optimistic there!
