Schick might be an option upfront for Everton

As the Euros continue one player who has caught the eye is the Czech Republic striker Patrik Schick so could he be an option for Everton this summer?

Everton are still manager-less so to speak and as this increasingly tedious wait continues other clubs are strengthening their squads while the Toffees haven’t added any new players yet.

This is to some extent inevitable as without a manager it is difficult to make any signings and indeed persuade players to join.

There appeared to be some evidence that the Blues were still looking to recruit and rumours centred on the possible signing of Matheus Nunes but that story has now gone quiet.

One problem area in the current Everton team is up front. Although Dominic Calvert-Lewin had a good season overall last term, his goals pretty much dried up after an electric start once James Rodriguez was injured and there was a big reduction in creativity.

And while he has a great set of tools with his pace, strength in the air and the ability to finish, he still wastes a lot of chances and doesn’t create his own.

Without Calvert-Lewin’s goals and with Richarlison struggling for form all season, the Toffees were often firing blanks upfront. This meant that they had the poorest goal difference of any of the top ten teams and actually ended up with a minus one difference at season’s end.

So there is a definite need for more firepower in attack when next season kicks off. This will be even more important if both Rodriguez and Richarlison leave.

Both South American forwards are it appears considering their situation now that Ancelotti has left. Rodriguez could well be on his way and this might be even more likely if Rafa Benitez does get the job.

So would the Czech forward Schick be a viable option either to partner Calvert-Lewin or provide an effective alternative and support?

Schick is a player who can operate as a central striker or behind one or from a position on the right wing and that is critical.

The Czech player can provide what Everton have been lacking and wanted for a long time; a left-footed right-sided attacker to provide width and balance to the team.

Schick is having a decent Euros tournament and so his value is likely to be increased in this summer’s transfer market as with other players the Blues are supposedly interested in such as Denzel Dumfries.

He is another player being tentatively linked with a move to Goodison Park but I suppose we will have to wait for the new man to be unveiled for any further concrete moves.
