Everton’s managerial appointment still hangs in limbo as new names continue to be linked with the job but Rafael Benitez seems to be the frontrunner as of now. Whoever replaces Carlo Ancelotti, one of his agendas will be to sign a successor to Everton right back Seamus Coleman. The name of Denzel Dumfries has been mentioned as a possible candidate.
The Dutchman has been on a glorious stretch of form in the Euro 2020, making headlines for his outstanding displays in the group stages of the tournament, helping Holland to progress with ease. The 25 year old has scored two goals and provided one assist, being a constant threat to the opposition from the flanks while also orchestrating his defensive duties as a wing back.

Dumfries has been linked to Everton in the past couple of weeks. Everton director of football, Marcel Brands, knows Dumfries from his time at PSV Eindhoven. Brands now aims to bring the 25 year old to Goodison Park to reinforce the right back department.
Coleman has carried out the duties of the right back for over a decade and has been one of the most loyal players at the club. However, the captain is now on the wrong side of 30 with injuries and niggles disrupting the Irishman’s rhythm. Age waits for no man. Coleman is a steadfast leader on the pitch and in the dressing room but that doesn’t mask the fact that sooner or later he won’t be as effective as before.
Bayern Munich also hold interest in Everton target Denzel Dumfries
Dumfries wants to make the next big leap in his career. He admitted that the colossal Premier League suits his style. Everton have been chasing the Dutchman but they are not alone who admire him. Napoli considers Dumfries as an exciting prospect to have at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium but certainly trail behind the Royal Blues. Bayern Munich held a good amount of interest in Dumfries.
However, as per Sky Sports in Germany, Bayern may be incapacitated to complete a transfer as of now. The 25 year old has a €15 million release clause in his PSV deal but Die Roten do not want to pay this amount. As per another report from Bild, Bayern have cooled down their interest in Dumfries, mainly due to the asking price.
This will be a huge boost to Everton in Dumfries’ chase. Had Bayern been in the race, the Toffees would’ve had their work cut out in getting the deal done. The PSV defender could well be Toffees’ prime target for the right back position and irrespective of who becomes the next Everton boss, Brands will want to push and sign Dumfries before more teams try and pounce on the Euro 2020 star.
