Demarai Gray was arguably the best player for Everton

Midfield:

Allan – 7

Allan made a proper defensive midfield recovery against Bamford who looked to launch a counter. The Brazilian’s positioning was superb especially without possession as he covered the space around him well.

Abdoulaye Doucoure – 7

Testing the keeper early in the game is always a good idea and Abdoulaye Doucoure tried to start things on a bright note, taking a shot from a distance that curled wide. Doucoure seems to be the heartbeat of Everton midfield at the moment. The Frenchman was making his presence known everywhere through his combative skills.

Demarai Gray – 8

Demarai Gray boasted his blistering pace as he took on Luke Ayling before threading a low ball across the Leeds goal for Dominic Calvert-Lewin as Everton looked to orchestrate a lightning-quick counter attack.

Gray was the shining star of Benitez’s team this afternoon. The Englishman looked promising every time he was on the ball. Gray scored his first Everton goal, a low well struck finish. Everton’s £1.7 million investment at this point is looking like a bargain.

Alex Iwobi – 6

Alex Iwobi had a quiet first half, almost untrackable as he failed to produce anything decisive in the final third. Threaded an inviting ball for DCL who could have extended Everton’s lead in the second half.
