If PSG want Richarlison can Everton get players in exchange

The stories won’t go away claiming that Richarlison will be leaving Everton this summer and that Paris is his likely destination.

While manager Rafa Benitez is defiant that he isn’t be going anywhere but he also wants to sign players to strengthen his squad and without a big injection of cash how’s that going to happen?

We also know that player power is very strong these days so if such a deal happened could the Blues get one or two quality players in exchange?

First of all, I’m not saying Everton should necessarily sell Richarlison, but let’s be honest every player has their price and if a massive bid (say £70- 100 million or so) came in for him it would be hard for the club to turn down that sort of money given their financial circumstances.

The ongoing uncertainty about Moise Kean’s future also make this an even more complicated situation. If the Italian was to leave for a substantial fee soon, the Toffees would have money to spend and wouldn’t need to even consider letting Richarlison go.

However, the only rumours surrounding Kean are centred on loan deals (now possibly with an option to buy) but that still leaves Everton without the cash up front they need.

I may be wrong and time is against it, but I wouldn’t be that surprised if Richarlison does still leave Goodison Park before the end of next Tuesday’s deadline.

So, if that happens could the Toffees perhaps negotiate to get a player or two from the French club in exchange as well as some cash for their Brazilian star, as they won’t have much time to bring in new players themselves?

One player who would be an obvious fit is Idrissa Gueye returning. It’s arguable that the Senegal midfield ball-winning dynamo has never been adequately replaced since he left Goodison Park to sign for PSG in the summer of 2019.

His box-to-box energy and ability to win the ball while providing a great screen in front of the defence was crucial to how the Blues played when he was wearing royal blue.

Allan and Abdoulaye Doucoure are a great combination in the middle but both had injury problems last season and Benitez needs another player who can slot in to replace one of them.

And while it looks like Gueye’s original replacement Jean-Philippe Gbamin is finally approaching full fitness, his injury problems are well-documented and seem likely to return. So Everton do need another energetic central midfielder and Gueye would certainly fit the bill.

Another player who could add to the Toffees attacking options would be Julian Draxler. He’s a big talent and would offer that other quality wide attacker that Benitez wants.

I doubt he’s want to come to Merseyside but maybe Everton could drive a hard bargain and demand a player like him is on the table or else no deal for Richarlison.

All this is purely specualtive on my part but while nothing may happen in this transfer window it does seem as though an exit for the Blues Brazilian forward might well be getting nearer.
