Moise Kean and Bernard have left Everton

Everton departures:

Bernard

After joining Everton on a free transfer in 2018, Bernard failed to excel and produce his best game in the Premier League. The Brazilian was pocketing a hefty £120,000 per week in wages but was not a crucial player in the squad. Bernard was close to leaving the club in January 2021 but a move fell through.

With his contract expiring next summer, Everton were hoping to sell Bernard this summer. The 28 year old completed a move to Sharjah FC for which the Toffees received a modest token of €1 million.

Moise Kean

Moise Kean arrived as a budding youngster with bucketloads of potential. The failure to adapt to the English game and impatience saw him move to PSG where he blossomed. His success in Paris skyrocketed his value and a sale was anticipated this summer.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s move to Manchester United saw Juventus push for Kean. The Bianconeri signed Kean on a two year loan deal with an obligation to buy for €28 million. Everton would receive €7 million in loan fees and another €28 million in transfer fees. Additionally, the Merseyside club could pocket another €3 million in add-ons based on sporting objectives.

Beni Baningime

Beni Baningime joined Scottish side Hearts on a free transfer, penning a three year deal with Hearts.

Joao Virginia

Everton third choice goalkeeper Joao Virginia left the Toffees on loan in search of first team football, joining Sporting Lisbon on loan. The Portuguese champions also have an option to make the move permanent next summer.

Following the arrival of veteran Asmir Begovic as the backup to Jordan Pickford, Virginia’s chances in first team would’ve dwindled.

Niels Nkounkou

On transfer deadline day, Niels Nkounkou moved to Belgian side Standard Liege on a season long loan deal. This loan deal could be beneficial for player as the Frenchman can get some much needed first team minutes under his belt but his departure exposes Everton’s lack of depth at left back. The Toffees only have Lucas Digne as a traditional full back.
