Everton Player ratings for August: Demarai Gray sparkles, DCL unstoppable
Demarai Gray has proved to be a bargain for Everton
Demarai Gray
Appearances – 4
Starts – 3
Minutes played – 262
Goals/Assists – 2/0
Rating – 8.5
Demarai Gray has been the biggest positive of August. What an acquisition he has been. People slating him as a mediocre signing are now hiding their faces with shame and deleting words of slander. For £1.7 million, he’s a steal. He is exactly what Rafa Benitez’s side needs, a pacey, direct and a brave winger not afraid to take on defenders and make an extra effort in the final third.
Andros Townsend
Appearances – 4
Starts – 3
Minutes played – 265
Goals/Assists – 1/1
Rating – 7.5
Andros Townsend has been another impactful signing, maybe not as impactful as Gray but the former Crystal Palace man has blended well in the new surroundings. He has been one of the key reasons for better service in the box from the right flank, already attempting 16 crosses in four appearances. The 30 year old’s discipline and work off the ball has to be appreciated.
Anthony Gordon
Appearances – 1
Starts – 0
Minutes played – 1
Goals/Assists – 0/0
Rating – N.A
Anthony Gordon is yet to get a proper chance to showcase his talent to Rafa Benitez. His chance will come soon as the Spaniard has been impressed with the 20 year old and wanted to keep him instead of sending him out on loan.
NOTE: James Rodriguez and Ben Godfrey haven’t been evaluated as they haven’t made any appearances in August. Meanwhile, Moise Kean and Joao Virginia have left on loan.
