Ben Godfrey could continue to remain a part of the Everton backline

Defence:

Left back: Lucas Digne

Lucas Digne was solid in his defensive performance against Burnley but could’ve improved his delivery and runs in the final third against Burnley. The Frenchman is still finding his rhythm in his attacking game and once he’s on pace with it, his service in the box will also improve.

Centre back: Michael Keane

Michael Keane had a very strong game against Burnley, arguably the best of his season so far after a shaky start. He finally has generated some momentum that will boost his confidence in battling Ings, Ollie Watkins, Bailey and others. The Englishman seems to remain Benitez’s first choice and is deemed as the leader of the central defence.

Centre back: Ben Godfrey

Ben Godfrey made his season’s first appearance against Burnley and was decent against the Clarets. He was substituted after 60 minutes as a part of a tactical rejig. The 23 year old could be handy against the quick attack of Villa. Bailey and Watkins are quick and to counter their pace threat, Godfrey can be important in the Everton backline. The blend of pace and power make him the perfect candidate to fight the speedy frontline.

Right back: Seamus Coleman

Seamus Coleman not only brings experience but a certain sense of calmness to the backline. The Irishman might not possess pace but his expertise and understanding of the game come in handy for the Merseysiders.
