Abdoulaye Doucoure has been excellent for Everton in midfield

Midfield:

Central midfielder: Abdoulaye Doucoure

Abdoulaye Doucoure is a rejuvenated man under Rafa Benitez. The former Watford man doesn’t need to provide cover for James Rodriguez on the right and has more freedom in surging forward. He makes regular runs in the box and puts his combative skills to great use.

Under the Spanish boss, Doucoure has lived up to the box-to-box midfielder billing, making big contributions in both halves. The Frenchman is in fine form but can still improve on his passing and distribution, something that was not up to the mark against Burnley, especially in the first half.

Central midfielder: Allan

Allan has also enjoyed his current role that has been remodelled under Benitez. Earlier, the Brazilian was a guardian in front of the back four, solely breaking up play but now he’s a proper enforcer, who makes runs forward, press breaking runs and carries out his defensive duties with ease. The former Napoli man has partnered well with Doucoure and the duo has formed a productive partnership that is powering Everton’s engine room.

Left wide midfield: Demarai Gray

Demarai Gray has been impeccable, scoring in three successive Premier League games for the Toffees. The former Leicester City man was thought to have hit a bumpy road in his career but with his move to Everton, he wants to prove his doubters wrong and so far it is evident in his play. Within a span of a few games, Gray has become one of the most important players on the pitch for the Royal Blues.

Right wide midfield: Andros Townsend

Andros Townsend scored a scrumptious goal at Goodison last week and assisted Michael Keane’s goal. The former Crystal Palace man is performing on a high level and is one of the most committed players defensively as well. This is the sort of attitude that bodes well with Benitez and the 30 year old should start ahead of Alex Iwobi.
