Mason Holgate could return to the Everton lineup

Defence:

Right back: Jonjoe Kenny

With Seamus Coleman out injured due to a hamstring pull, Ben Godfrey deputized in the right back role against Aston Villa. Benitez may want to rotate the squad and rest Godfrey, meaning Jonjoe Kenny could get a rare start against QPR. The Everton academy product is not trusted in entirety and remains a fringe option but an opportunity against QPR gives him a chance to impress Benitez.

Centre back: Mason Holgate

Mason Holgate seems to have slipped down the pecking order with Yerry Mina and Ben Godfrey ahead of him. With Michael Keane playing every minute of the season so far, Benitez could rotate him and entrust Holgate with the duties of leading the central defence.

Earlier this season, Holgate spoke about improving his performances as he did not have a promising last season. The 24 year old has a chance to stamp his authority against QPR and give Rafa Benitez a selection headache.

Centre back: Jarrad Branthwaite

Jarrad Branthwaite could get minutes against QPR. Rafa Benitez was impressed by the former Carlisle youngster in training and wanted to keep the player at least until January which is why the Toffees rejected loan offers. Branthwaite played the second round of the Carabao Cup and looked assuring in 57 minutes he featured in.

He could have another opportunity to impress Benitez and get some important minutes under his belt as he continues to refine himself and develop with age and experience.

Left back: Lucas Digne

Lucas Digne was criticized for his errors against Aston Villa and he will be hoping to bounce back strongly. The Frenchman’s deliveries in the box and from set pieces need to improve and match the previous levels.

He’s one of the best players in the team but needs to find that form soon. Unfortunately, the Toffees do not have any backup in the left back position which adds pressure on Digne to remain fit and perform at a high level.
