Alex Iwobi can feature on the wide right

Midfield:

Central midfield: Andre Gomes

Under Rafa Benitez, we are seeing a rejuvenated version of Andre Gomes. In the last Carabao Cup tie against Huddersfield, Gomes came on and proved to be the difference maker, assisting Andros Townsend’s goal and being heavily involved on Everton’s left side. Against Burnley, his inclusion in the midfield allowed the Toffees to dominate the midfield and score three goals in quick succession.

Gomes will oversee the creativity duties while also look to advance in goalscoring positions. He could play a key role in the middle of the park.

Central midfield: Tom Davies

Tom Davies has proven to be an excellent utility man and a squad option. He can slot anywhere in the midfield while also play as a wing back, if needed. Davies could start against QPR as Allan and Abdoulaye Doucoure are likely to get some much deserved rest.

Left wide midfield: Anthony Gordon

Anthony Gordon could get his first start of the season. He came on for Salomon Rondon against Villa but couldn’t make much of an impact. Andros Townsend could at least get some rest and come on if needed late in the game which would allow Gordon to show his capabilities.

Right wide midfield: Alex Iwobi

Alex Iwobi started the last game on the left side but could shift to the right wing if Townsend doesn’t start the game. The Nigerian has shown progression under Rafa Benitez and but still needs to do more to regularly feature and live up to his £34 million price tag.

Iwobi has the ability to carry the ball forward and on his day he does it elegantly without losing the ball too often. QPR lines up with a back three which could allow Iwobi to exploit spaces and stretch their defence.
