Abdoulaye Doucoure is a contender for the player of the season so far for Everton

Midfield:

Central midfield: Allan

Even though named on the bench, Allan was given a complete rest against QPR. The Brazilian has been impressive in the opening half of the season and has added new weapons to his armoury. From being a guardian, standing in front of the back four last season, Allan now also has added a sense of attacking flavour in his play.

Central midfield: Abdoulaye Doucoure

Abdoulaye Doucoure has arguably been the player of the season so far for Everton. The Frenchman has turned up the engine this season as he has played the role of a box-to-box midfielder in its truest sense. His inclusion in the game against QPR did swing the momentum but the Toffees failed to find the winner.

Doucoure has one goal and three assists in five Premier League games. The former Watford man is a key part of the Benitez system and his contribution with Allan will be influential in dictating the game’s result.

Left wide midfield: Alex Iwobi

Alex Iwobi didn’t turn up against QPR, giving the ball away on far too many occasions. Anthony Gordon had a fantastic game and could give Iwobi a run for his money but the Nigerian will likely start ahead of the 20 year old.

Right wide midfield: Andros Townsend

Andros Townsend is putting a strong case to be considered as the signing of the season along with Demarai Gray. Townsend’s contributions have been huge, scoring three and assisting three in seven games. Perhaps, arriving on free transfer further acts as a sweetener.

The former Crystal Palace man will act as a leader in the attack in absence of Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin. His deliveries in the box can be important as Salomon Rondon gets back to his rhythm.
