A South American media outlet has claimed Everton along with several other European clubs made a move for a promising young Brazilian forward Yuri Alberto.

This is another tentative transfer rumour which seems very unlikely to be true as Everton have recently signed a young striker from Sunderland and have several other youth team products who have seen first-team action: Ellis Simms and most recently Lewis Dobbin.

At any rate, it seems according to this report that the Brazilian youngster would prefer a move to AC Milan rather than the English Premier League.

The lack of striking options within the squad is certainly an issue for Toffees boss Rafa Benitez which was thrown into starker relief when of course he lost his two first-choice forwards Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin to injury.

One of them has returned to fitness and and it was great to see Brazilian Richarlison return to action on Saturday and score too, a welcome bonus.

But, depsite that good news his usual strike partner Calvert-Lewin is still out for potentially at least another month or possibly longer.

In the meantime deadline day signing Salomon Rondon has given the team nothing so far and increasingly looks as though he will prove a mistaken addition.

Perhaps he can still contribute to the side’s attack as he certainly should be fit enough now having played plenty of minutes recently.

Everton face two critical matches before yet another international break as they play Wolves away and then take on Totttenham Hotspur at Goodison Park.

I don’t really think that the team can afford to lose either of those games although getting any points in these fixtures would seem pretty unrealistic if the Toffees again play like they did last weekend against Watford.

Benitez has to make a decision to make up front going into Monday’s clash at Molineux as he will still be unsure of how long Richarlison can play and whether he is able to operate as a lone striker.

So if he does start it’s likely to be alongside his fellow South American Rondon again. Let’s hope that having that support might help Rondon rediscover his form at last..?
