Michael Keane and Ben Godfrey are likely to start at the core of the Everton defence

Defence:

Right back: Seamus Coleman

Seamus Coleman has returned to his full capacity and is functioning well on the right flank alongside Andros Townsend. The Irishman has formed a solid partnership on the right side with the former Crystal Palace man and the duo has been causing troubles to the opposition. Coleman will have a tough job to keep Hwang Hee-chan silent.

Centre back: Michael Keane

Criticism was thrown at Michael Keane after the shambolic performance against Watford which is why this game against Wolves becomes even more important for the former Burnley man. Keane looked out of touch and panicked frequently without Mina alongside him. The strike force of Raul Jimenez, Hee-chan and Adama Traore can cause all sorts of problems to Keane and it will be a true test of Keane’s abilities.

Centre back: Ben Godfrey

Ben Godfrey doesn’t look as sound and reliable as he used to be last season. Perhaps, the COVID -19 and lack of pre-season training has taken a toll and left the Englishman besieged. Against Watford, he was out of position on far too many occasions and a rock solid performance against Wolves will be the first step to correcting his previous wrongdoings. In Mina’s absence he’s likely to partner Keane. The English duo will have to coordinate and complement each other to defend against the Wolves attack.

Left back: Lucas Digne

Lucas Digne is in for a roller coaster as he tries to negate muscle man Traore’s threat on Everton’s left side. The Frenchman will also have to tussle with the pace of Nelson Semedo, increasing the risk on the left side.
