The January transfer window is fast approaching and teams have started working on potential targets. Everton have also been linked to several players. After Donny van de Beek, Everton have now been linked to Dynamo Moscow midfielder Arsen Zakharyan.

The ongoing injury crisis has had a calamitous effect on the team’s form and results. The injury plague began in attack when Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin suffered knee and quadriceps injuries. Recently, Rafa Benitez has had a series of midfield injury setbacks which keeps on compounding the Everton problems.

Abdoulaye Doucoure suffered a metatarsal stress fracture which has kept him out of action for the last six games. Tom Davies picked up a knee injury in the game against Tottenham and his return is still unclear.

Andre Gomes has been sidelined with a calf problem since September. Fabian Delph has just returned and Jean-Philippe Gbamin’s situation remains complicated, despite being available. There have also been concerns over Allan’s fitness after the Manchester City game.

Everton keen on Arsen Zakharyan

Thankfully, Everton’s wide men haven’t suffered serious blows amid the flurry of injuries. Demarai Gray did pick up a groin injury against Manchester City but it doesn’t seem very serious, confirmed Benitez.

The Toffees need reinforcements. Everton have been scouting players around Europe and shortlisting targets for January. Rafa Benitez wants to improve the squad in the upcoming transfer window and bolster the squad in some areas. Whether he has the liberty to spend big or not is unclear but the Toffees will work out a formula to sign a few players.

According to Tutto Mercato Web, Everton is ‘pressing hard’ to sign Zakharyan from Dynamo Moscow. The Russian starlet has been a hot prospect this season and has set the Russian Premier Liga on fire with his spectacular performances, scoring three goals and providing six assists in 14 games.

What has come as a surprise is Zakharyan’s ability to play on the left, right and even as a central midfielder and contribute to the team’s goals. He’s played as a wide player as well as in the middle of the park. The 18 year old could be exactly what Benitez’s side needs right now.

Capable of playing in multiple roles, he could be the jack of all trades that Everton need to solve the depth issues. At 18, he still has a steep climb to maturity and development but has ample time on his side. The report further adds that Dynamo Moscow values him at upwards of €10 million which isn’t an exorbitant valuation in today’s modern transfer market.

If Everton can gather the required funds and beat the competition, Zakharyan could strengthen the side in multiple areas.
