Everton right back Seamus Coleman will need to be replaced soon

1.  Right back

Seamus Coleman is past his prime and his dip in form cannot be ignored. The Irishman has shouldered the responsibility of being Everton’s prime right back for over a decade but it seems now his race has been run. The Toffees have been searching for a competent right back for the past two transfer windows but have returned empty handed in their pursuit.

Names like Max Aarons, Denzel Dumfries and Mehmet Zeki Celik have been linked in the previous windows with the Toffees also negotiating deals for them but their pursuit bore no fruit. More recently, Nathan Patterson and Ainsley Maitland-Niles were considered Everton targets and attempts were made to sign them in the summer.

Coleman’s experience is invaluable but there is only so much that the body can do. The 33 year old has struggled against superior opposition and doesn’t possess the same attacking edge he used to few years ago. At times, he is overrun and his drop in pace doesn’t help.

Jonjoe Kenny is not a trusted option and if there’s a chance, Everton need to push for a right back signing. Perhaps, doing business in January isn’t easy as not many clubs are willing to sell but a short term solution in form of a loan can work for Everton.  Arsenal can be approached again for Maitland-Niles.
