The agent of an player previously linked with a move to Everton has rubbished rumours that his charge might be coming to the Premier League and Goodison Park.

That player is Gabriel Barbosa commonly known as Gabigol, who has supposedly been on the radar of Everton and also now inevitably after their takeover, by Newcastle United too.

However, his agent Junior Pedrosa has revealed there is nothing to these stories and the Brazilian star won’t be making a move to England anytime soon.

Given the paucity of the Toffees’ attack recently – the Blues haven’t scored a goal since beating Norwich City back in September – it is no surprise that Everton are being linked with forwards in the media.

With Dominic Calvert-Lewin still pout injured and Barbosa’s fellow South American Salomon Rondon yet to find the net for Everton goal-scoring reinforcements would seem urgent.

Barbosa has previous experince playing in Europe with Inter Milan and Benifica but it didn’t really work out for him in Italy and Portugal and he has been back in his native Brazil with Flamengo.

Now he is scoring plenty of goals too, so there have been renewed stories of a return to European shores, perhaps to England this time.

Gabigol can play centre-forward or on the wing and has netted eighty three times since his return to Brazilian football. He certainly does have a good goal-scoring record, hence the nickname, and as mentioned has experince in European leagues.

That sort of skill set would make him the kind of player that the club have been supposedly interested in bringing in as stories of possible targets continues.

Well, I don’t know if he would represent a decent option in an ideal world. Perhaps a player like that would be what Everton need to provide additional goal threat and creativity.

But, anyway even if his agent wasn’t debunking specultaive media reports and the Blues’ were interested, I very much doubt the Toffees’ could afford the £20 million rumoured to be his fee.
