Bramley-Moore Dock Stadium is one of the biggest investments and commitments are undertaken by Everton club owner Farhad Moshiri. The reception has been vocal about the new state of the art style stadium which will enrich the fan experience and enhance the status of the club.
Everton have been providing regular updates regarding the new £500 million stadium – Releasing photos, CGI time-lapse videos and views of the Everton top brass over the stadium from time to time. The multimillion dollar investment is a huge commitment made by the owners even though the road has been bumpy in terms of on pitch results.
The Toffees have spent over £500 million and yet have been unable to bridge the gap from being a mid table side to being a consistent challenger for European football. There have been false dawns in the past which has seen the Toffees rise but fall back almost immediately. The managerial upheaval has further contributed to the cycle of instability.
Rafa Benitez took over in the summer and is the latest manager to take charge with the agenda of propelling Everton to European football. The sceptics became quiet when Everton made a big leap at the start of the season. The recent stone cold reality check has seen fans grow impatient and express their resent in most vocal ways possible.
Everton boss Rafa Benitez on new stadium and club’s spending
Before the kick off against Brentford, the travelling Everton fans made their feelings evidently clear as Marcel Brands and Bill Kenwright were in attendance. A banner was put up that read: “We demand Nil Satis Nisi Optimum, it’s about time our club did too”
During this terrible run of results, fingers have been pointed at the coach, the Director of Football, the players and the club hierarchy. Most importantly, fans are unhappy with the commitment of certain players and them not giving their hundred per cent.
Rafa Benitez was questioned about the banner at the Brentford Community Stadium and the Spaniard spoke in full support of the club hierarchy and made highlighted the amount of money poured into the club.
"I think the analysis has to be done in a careful way. The club is spending a lot of money, the club is trying to do the best in every single department and that is one thing you can see from the beginning. When you come here, everybody is trying to improve things and trying to do their best. In the start of the season, everybody was happy and because we don’t have good results now, you can question everything. I think that the club is trying to do their best. The former Valencia boss also highlighted the new upcoming stadium and how that is a huge thing for Everton. If the construction continues to be on schedule, the Bramley-Moore Dock will be due to open at the start of 2024-25 season.
"We cannot forget one thing, it’s a massive thing, the new stadium for this club. Everything will change and we have to be sure, we continue supporting, we remain behind the team, we continue pushing because we will be better and we want to be better."
The first step of bouncing back will be to get a result in the Merseyside derby which at this point looks extremely difficult but if the team can pull it off, it will help the team in winning back the support of the fans who have been utterly disappointed.
