Everton: 3 players who need to step up against Liverpool
Lucas Digne can have a tricky game against Mohamed Salah
3. Lucas Digne
Lucas Digne’s attacking output has dropped to an alarming rate. He has hardly been able to showcase his offensive abilities. He averages just 0.33 crosses per game into the penalty area as compared to 0.87 per game last season. His crossing stats have also dropped, he now only attempts 2.75 crosses per game as compared to an extremely healthy 4.43 crosses per game last season.
In 12 games played, he has just put four crosses in the goal area which just goes onto show how drastic a fall he’s had in terms of attacking output. In some games, Everton have gone with a pragmatic and conservative approach which has dwindled Digne’s impact in the attack.
However, in the Merseyside derby, Digne will not only have to step up in the attack but will have bring his A-game in defence as well as he is against arguably the best player on the planet based on current form, Mohamed Salah.
Salah can be a menace and tracking him is as difficult as pulling off an impossible victory in the derby. Digne will have to find the right balance between supplementing the attack and carrying out his defensive duties to negate the danger of the Egyptian. This could be a huge game for the Frenchman.
